The backdrop has changed as our intrepid hero, using his OWN POWER, dangerously drove 30 miles across mountains and valleys to his new home. Let’s watch as the story unfolds....

In our last episode, we learned that one does not simply install a fuel pump on a car sitting for 10 years and expect a running engine. Will the ‘Lude ever run again? What was causing the problem? Why is the sky blue?

Nitrogen. The sky is blue because all colors of the visible spectrum are either absorbed by or pass through the ozone layer except blue because it is reflected back by the nitrogen in our atmosphere.

The Magic Wizards at RockAuto cut me a deal on the PGM-FI relay that was half what was offered locally. I exchanged numbers with the trolls that run the bank and they had mermaids hand pick my part from their store house shelves, pass it to the fairy packaging team who had it boxed and sent down the line to the awaiting unicorn package delivery service which used its infinite knowledge of the inner workings of the space time continuum to seamlessly and unceremoniously place my package carefully, but not lovingly, on my doorstep not 3 days later. I tore open my box and replaced the factory grey honda relay with the newly delivered black Chinese relay. AND THEENNNNN.......

Nothing.

Good news was I heard the newly installed fuel pump prime the system and spill about 250ml (8oz/half pint) of fuel into my engine bay because I had disconnected the filter. Realizing my mistake, I installed the new filter and checked for pressure at the rail. tried again, no dice. Gave up for 3 weeks.

Yesterday I decided to retrieve the fuel injectors from the Honda to soak them in solvent and attempt to get them working. Instead of doing this, I figured i may as well have another go at it. Turned the key and one cylinder was hitting strong. I gently tapped on the sides of all the injectors with my 10mm wrench. After an extended fit of cranking, damn thing roared to life!

It’s the, eye of the Honder, when it roars into life. BABY you don’t ever need a reminder!

The wretched screech that came from under the hood followed by the stench and view of belt smoke told me something was wrong. A quick inspection revealed an alternator stuck with a decade’s worth of rust and debris. Broke it loose using my dogbone wrench (and these GUNZZZ) and amazingly it is charging my battery!

Next time.... The story of how we got him home!!

You mentioned in part 1 you have some spare parts from past ‘lude projects. You don’t happen to have an extra fuel/temp gauge do you? mine literally let out the smoke when I was bringing it home last night. Wont even turn on now. Wonky 25 year old digital bits....

Going by the corner lights/turn signals, it’s a 94-96. And a non-VTEC model because it’s white.
